Community Foundation
Celebrates 2006 Scholarship Recipients

School's out for summer, but the celebration of the high school graduates continues throughout the summer. Not only do the students revel in the passage from one level of education to the next, but those who have supported those students, rejoice in the success of these future college students as well.

2006 SCCF Scholarship Recipients

The Starke County Community Foundation (SCCF) and the donors who created funds within the foundation also threw a party for all the recipients of the Community Foundation Scholarships. The event was held June 8th at Grand Central Station in North Judson and featured guest speakers, Nathan Origer a 2006 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Michael Matsey, 2006 graduate of Wabash College. Both Nathan and Michael are 2002 Lilly Endowment Community Scholars who talked to the incoming college freshman about what to expect at the college level and thanked the Lilly Endowment and the SCCF for the opportunity to represent Starke County though the prestigious scholarship.

Terri Johnson, the Executive Director of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation (NICF) spoke about the foundation and the 10th year anniversary of the foundation in Starke County in 2006. An explanation of each scholarship was given by Corinne Becknell Lucas, Program/Scholarship Coordinator with the NICF and special recognition was given to all the people who are memorialize by the scholarships.
