What is the Starke County Community Foundation?

The Starke County Community Foundation (SCCF) is a not-for-profit organization that serves as a vehicle for people of all means to make a lasting difference in their community. The SCCF serves the needs and philanthropic aims of donors who which to better their community - now and in the future. SCCF does this by providing donors with flexible, efficient and tax effective ways to ensure their charitable giving achieves the greatest possible impact. The concept of SCCF is as ingenious as it is simple. It is a means to build substantial endowment funds for our community through contributions large and small.

Everyone Can Be a Philanthropist

You need not be a millionaire to make a significant gift to your community.

Your gift through your community foundation can benefit the agencies or causes you choose, or it can enable the community foundation to focus on new problems as times change. In either case, your gift will impact the citizens of your community forever.

Your community foundation may be the recipient of a challenge grant which will match the amount you give. In that instance, your gift means even more to your community.

Community foundations are the fastest growing form of organized philanthropy in the nation and in Indiana because they so perfectly serve both donors' goals and community needs. A visit by you or your financial advisor with any of the SCCF Directors or NICF Staff and they will demonstrate how you may work with that foundation to accomplish your goals and to benefit your community permanently.

How is the Foundation Set Up?

The Starke County Community Foundation is a fund of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation (NICF), a three-county organization sharing costs and pooling the funds from the individual counties into a single cost-effective foundation. The NICF is directed by a board consisting of five members from each of the three counties which provides for consistent, effective management of the endowments. Each of the three counties (Starke, Fulton and Miami), has its own board and is responsible for the growth of endowments and the distribution of proceeds from its general fund. All the board members are volunteers. The chief executive officer and the three-member staff are paid positions.

What Kind of Gifts Does
The Starke County Community Foundation Accept?
